The Almada
City Council (CMA) and AIP will hold, on June 28th, the seminar “Agroparque
Terras da Costa e do Mar”, in Costa da Caparica. At the event, which will take
place at Convento dos Capuchos, the project for the sustainable Agropark in
Portugal will be presented, from the concept to the field work that is being
carried out to make it a reality. Open to the participation of all who
register, the seminar will be attended by representatives from the Lisbon
Metropolitan Area, the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests,
representatives from Agroparks at an international level and national projects
in the area of agriculture, Docapesca and National Civil Engineering
Laboratory. In the action
program, which takes place between 9 am and 5 pm, partners from Agroparque
da Costa da Caparica will also be present, such as AIP, which is already
implementing the project on the ground, namely through the training of more
than a hundred farmers in organic farming. Essays and Dialogues Association,
Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa and the Faculty of Science and
Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa are other partners in the project.

The sustainable Agropark, one of the most relevant projects of the
“Sustainable Almada” program, is part of the “Communities in Action” initiative
of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and is based on the development of an organic
agricultural area for local consumption. CMA is, through this project,
transforming the territory. Between the beaches and the cliff, there are 140
hectares of agricultural land that will be interconnected with this project,
promoting the cultivation of organic products to be consumed by the local
population, with the surplus being sold nationally and internationally.
AIP is a
partner in this innovative project at national level, fulfilling its mission of
boosting the Portuguese business fabric and defending the interests of
Portuguese companies. The most representative business association in Portugal
plays a fundamental role in this project in training people to develop new
skills aligned with the needs of the future, seeking to offer them the
necessary tools so that they can value themselves and make their contribution
to the dynamization of the national economy.
