Historic Quinta da Raza shares riches in the Vinho Verde region
All paths point to September 7th, the day when Quinta da Raza will offer a visit where it is possible to learn about the Vinhos Verdes Region plus the Basto Sub-Region (DOC), explore the property's wine tourism accommodations and enjoy a tasting of three wines generated in its approximately 50 hectares of vineyards. It's time to enter through these open doors, touched by the breezes from the Tâmara River and Serra do Marão.
Located in Lugar de Veade – Peneireiros, in the municipality of Celorico de Basto, district of Braga, Quinta da Raza, whose history dates back to the 18th century, has always been linked to the Teixeira Coelho family, today, in the fifth generation, represented by Diogo and Mafalda Teixeira Coelho.
Quinta da Raza enjoys a microclimate that results from the harmony between the gentle slopes that surround it, the Tâmega River that crosses the region and magnificent sun exposure. The soil, of granite origin, with clay-schist areas, reflects the generosity of this terroir.
The richness of its indigenous grape varieties, combined with the family's experience and commitment, result in a range of wine brands such as Raza, Dom Diogo and Quinta da Raza, with a distinct personality. These are elegant, fresh, well-balanced and unique wines due to their heritage.
The beauty of Quinta da Raza is also the Mata do Carvalhal, a forest mosaic of hardwood and resinous species such as oak and stone pine that interacts with the wine-growing areas.
