The NOV Group celebrates, in 2023, 25 years of organization, an age to which it adds another half hundred, meaning that before that block of time there was already a group of companies created based on the work and ingenuity of António Vieira Rodrigues, in the decade of 50. Between the period from 2010 to 2022, it earned more than 5 billion euros, exported more than 1.1 billion euros, paid more than 340 million euros in salaries, and more than 251 million euros in taxes; it has around 1,500 direct workers, but the average over the last 12 years was more than 3,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs.

“More than 70 Years of History, 25 Years of Organization” was the motto of the gala that brought together around 400 partners, internal and external, at Quinta dos Lagos, in Leiria, on September 15th, to mark the anniversary of the business group Portuguese, which operates in various areas of activity such as environment and energy, automobiles, communication, engineering and construction, real estate, industry and tourism.

The 70 years of history and 25 years of organization were the motivations for holding a commemorative gala that brought together employees, customers, suppliers and representatives of public entities, totaling around four hundred people. LPM, one of the NOV Automóveis companies, also celebrates, in 2023, 25 years of representing Peugeot in Leiria, Pombal and Marinha Grande. Currently, NOV Automóveis represents 12 brands, in the districts of Leiria and Santarém.

In these 25 years, it has become a multinational group. Internationalization began in Brazil and Mozambique and spread to three continents: Venezuela, Colômbia, Angola, Argélia, Marrocos, Bulgária and Roménia. The high point came with Mision Vivienda, in Venezuela, for the construction of 12,300 houses, and which led more than a hundred Portuguese companies to internationalize, with the main highlight being the 30 companies that signed a cooperation protocol for the construction of social housing (Casas para o Mundo project).

Diversification is another distinguishing factor. The Group started in engineering and construction and is currently active in the environment and energy, automobiles, communication, hotels, industry and real estate. With these sectors, and in addition to its international presence, in Portugal the group is spread across 14 districts from north to south: Leiria, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Aveiro, Porto, Santarém, Portalegre, Lisbon, Setúbal, Évora, Beja, Faro and Funchal.

Innovation is evident in the projects that have been developed. Currently, there are around 25 ongoing projects, highlighting the partnerships with CDRSP – Center for Rapid and Sustained Product Development, in the industrial area, and with the University of Coimbra, in the environment and energy area.

Furthermore, the group pioneered the creation of a Business School, an e-learning platform, a dispatch portal, among others. In the area of technology and biotechnology, the group innovated in the creation of a business incubator that founded the first private laboratory for the commercialization of genetic tests and, also, the first stem cell cryopreservation laboratory, which became an Iberian leader.
